News of today (based on emails and calls with the camp and other information).
- At Lake E the weather kept fine. The platform received the remaining pieces of the wooden roof. The hole for the rig tower was closed provisionally with a tarp, but the moon roof still needs be set-up once the rig is positioned. So, the structure is closed and widely weather proof, allowing for internal set-ups, e.g. of the electrics, starting tomorrow.
- The crane and trucks that had to stop 72 km from the lake during the last storm today had made it to 20 km from the camp. Gutov has sent one of the dozers from the camp to help them crossing the mountains. So, they should arrive tonight or tomorrow, just in time to complete the plattform set-up.
- In Pevek, cargo was collected, e.g. from Gutov's yard, for the helicopter flight scheduled for tomorrow morning, and last things requested by the Lake E crew were purchased. Besides, the budget situation with the cash flow in Pevek was clearified. This included the extraction of all of the money we had stored in the Pevek bank, since gossip in Pevek says that this bank filial will likely be closed soon due to the global financial crisis (which would make it difficult to get access to our money, because the bank central is located in Anadyr). We have now stored all our cash in Dima's safe. Together with the money Volker Wennrich will bring with him in about a week, we have sufficient money to pay for the Pevek costs in the next few weeks and about three helicopter flights, including the one of tomorrow. So, it becomes important to get access to the helicopter flights to be arranged for us by FEGI.
