All,
News of Today:
- Everything takes its time at Lake E. Running the casing and the pipes was one thing, taking proper cores another thing.
- A number of technical problems, partly caused by the external temperatures, caused further delays. Our major problem in the moment is that the hydraulic piston corer, which has the best potential to get high-quality cores from the near-surface sediments, did not release during a number of employments. The party works hard and is hopeful to find the reason for these failures.
- The shift operation has changed live in the camp significantly. We have set up complex meal, shuttle and banja plans, and also at the platform the shifts still are proceeding on getting the work best organized.
- The partial crew shift by helicopter scheduled for today did not take place, because Pevek was hit by a significant storm (up to 40 cm/sec or 160 km/h wind velocities).
At lake E, however, it was another nice day with relatively little wind from the south.
Cheers for now
Martin
