News of Today
- Today, the platform has survived its first significant storm. Wind velocities of approximately
20-30 m/sec pushed hard on the tent, the tarp ... and any personnel working outside, but everything kept intact. The rig was fixed to the platform and some other, mostly indoor work was finished.
- The storm also has produced significant snowdrift on the flagged ice road, so that the bus was not able to reach the platform today. Also the dozer could not help, since its cabin windows were so much frozen or drifted by snow that the driver had no visibility. This problem was overcome today by using the Vezdehod, but it raised some questions about the best way the crew change will be organized once we face similar conditions during the upcoming drilling operations ... we are still working on a solution.
