All,
News of today:

... are minor. We are waiting for the replacements, trying to find some useful work. It has become rather windy, with some fresh snow drifting and reducing visibility here at the Lake, while weather in Pevek remains calm so far.

The good "News of Today" was provided by Julie from Pevek:

"Jeff Snyder of the Lake E project is pleased to announce that Allison Bryan, undergraduate at Bowling Green University, has been selected to be an ACS-RISE-IREU Scholar in 2009. With funding from the US National Science Foundation, the ACS Office of International Activities and the Education Division have partnered with DAAD to encourage young scientists to participate in the DAAD's RISE summer research program. Allison will participate in an orientation at NSF April 9-11 before spending the summer with diatomists at AWI in Potsdam. Allison is working with Jeff on the diatom stratigraphy of the Lake El'gygytgyn Lz1024 core that extends back to 340ka."

Cheers for now
Martin
