Preparations for moving the rig were in full swing today.  We had one set back in the middle of the night shift when it was realized we had lost 8 rods and the bottom hole assembly for the PQ.   5-6 hours were spent trying to retrieve it but apparently it had fallen too deep in the hole.  So the day shift continued to pull out pipe and was pulling up casing and removing the welded joints by the end of the shift.  The night shift will finish up the casing removal later tonight.  Jerry found an PQ shoe we can use later after we drill down with PQ and then drill with HQ again in hole 1D.  So we have what we need.

The rest of us worked around the rig with moving pipe off the platform and chipping at the ice around the runners one more time.   Most of the rig is now on wood or on HQ pipe and nearly free of ice.   Tomorrow we hope to move the rig as one unit, but this also requires moving the electrical generator container, disconnecting and reconnecting fuel and electrical lines as well as repositioning the submersible pump (from under 2 meters of ice) used for the mud.  So it might all sound easy but its not.  Rather we have a large number of people in camp now with sore backs.

cheers...Julie BG
